Learn more about Wild, Local Superfoods
Why choose
LOCAL superfoods?
There are many superfoods to be found. Nowadays even in the supermarket. An obvious advantage of more local superfoods is that they have a smaller impact on the environment in terms of transport. Furthermore, many superfoods are no longer produced as sustainably and the local population can no longer afford and consume them due to the enormous demand from the West. Furthermore, in every climate grows what we can use best at that moment. Nature is brilliant and is very happy to serve us. When you get closer to nature you will be able to see and experience this, it is beautiful!
Why should I choose
wild superfoods?
Wild-growing plants contain a vast array of minerals and trace elements that have largely disappeared from modern diets (even organic food), primarily due to large-scale agricultural practices. In addition, wild plants are rich in salvestrols, remarkable protective compounds that benefit both the plant (against pests) and humans (against diseases). As if that weren't enough, wild plants also contain more bitter compounds, which naturally aid in detoxification. These compounds have been bred out of our food because humans simply preferred sweeter vegetables. Bitter compounds support healthy digestion and help eliminate waste products efficiently.
Even more benefits of Wild food
Wild plants are still uncultivated. As a result, they still contain information and energy that is unadapted by humans (although we have of course adapted the environments in which they grow considerably). As a result, these plants contain much more information, wisdom and energy on an energetic level than is in our daily food from the supermarket. Read more about this via this beautifully powerful poem that perfectly reflects my feelings about this.
Do you pick all the wild herbs for the preparations yourself?
Partly on the 1.5 hectare terrain where I live in Drenthe. In addition, I work with various renowned suppliers of wild, sustainably picked ingredients, whom I trust.
There is also a plan for the future to be able to pick wild on the farm of organic and biodynamic farmers. But at this moment in the start-up phase of this company this is not yet directly feasible.
Can I also harvest these plants myself? If so, how and where?
Yes, absolutely. A simple walk through your own backyard can reveal a lot of edible (and powerful!) plants. What many find remarkable is that the herbs you personally need the most often grow very close to your own doorstep. Nature wants to help us! Foraging is officially prohibited, but in the Netherlands, it is tolerated in small quantities. It’s always a good idea to first check the red list to ensure you’re not picking endangered species and, of course, to identify plants correctly! There are plenty of excellent courses, books, and apps available to help with this.
